Ahead of LA Auto Show opening, Ford has announced Sync Connect, a new LTE-based app that will debut first with the 2017 Ford Escape. This new Ford model will also be unveiled at the LA Auto Show. The new app will let drivers to control some functions of a vehicle. For example, it’d be possible to remotely start the engine or lock the doors of the car.
Moreover, the Sync Connect App will also let customers use their smartphone to check fuel, oil and battery levels as well as tire pressure readings and vehicle location.
Such technologies are widely used in the lux vehicles. However, the new Sync Connect App has been developed for the low-end Ford Escape. To launch the app it’s necessary to support QNX SYNC 3 system, as well as to have a built-in modem inside. Ford Escape supports these characteristics. Therefore it’ll be impossible to install the app at the vehicles of the previous generation.
Sync Connect is included into the price of the vehicle. Also Ford offers five years of free complimentary service. The world-known car manufacturer plans to roll this technology out to all its vehicles produced in future.
