A student startup that originated at Cornell University enables you to tap out beats by wearing Bluetooth-enabled rings. The sound that’s produced from a tap is determined by colour what lets you create beats and melodies by tapping on anything with colour: plants, clothes, fruits, 12-colour special keyboard etc. You can simply tap to connect the rings to iOS or Android app. You can choose many types of instruments and keyboards to play various sounds.

Specdrums are not only fun and educational toy for children, they would be perfect for musicians seeking a MIDI device that fits in their pocket, developers looking for an open-source Bluetooth LE sensor suite, teachers interested in new technology for STEAM education, and just anyone who fidgets and taps at their desk.

Specdrums is now the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, and has already reached its funding target. One ring costs $34 while a pair is $74. Online and retail distribution is expected to be launched in 2018.
