The Korean electronics giant unveiled the GoPro-like device, presenting it as the first action camera to come with built-in LTE connectivity. It features on-board 4G – so you can live-stream video straight to the internet without WiFi or a smartphone. Secondly, built-in GPS and motion sensors mean that footage can easily be geo-tagged. The camera is a bit similar to a GoPro Hero4 Session Unlike GoPro cameras. However GPS and motion sensors make it much like the Garmin, or TomTom action cameras.

LG Electronics has presented a new tablet LG G Pad II 8.3 LTE. The device has a 8.3" display with 1920 x 1200 px resolution and is based on eightcore-chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 615. The tablet goes with a stylus and a preinstalled Microsoft Office. Operation system - Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
LG G Pad II 8.3 LTE is equipped with 2Gb of RAM and 16GB of flash memory which can be expanded with microSD cards of up to 128 Gb, an 8-megapixel main and a 2-megapixel front camera. Its wireless features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, as well as GPS. The battery has a capacity of 4800 mAh.
One of the key highlights is a full-size USB 2.0, which allows you to connect a keyboard, a mouse, or a USB flash drive with no need for adapters.
Measurements are 216,8 x 126,5 x 8,8 mm, the weight is 366 grams. The selling on the South Korean market started on December, 23, terms of selling in UAE are still unknown.
LG Electronics has unveiled the newest portable laptop – the LG Gram 15 powered by the latest sixth-generation Intel Core Skylake processor and Windows 10 OS. The lightest 15.6 inch member of the gram lineup will debut at CES 2016 that will take place on 6th-9th January in Las-Vegas. According to LG, Gram 15 is the lightest 15.6 inch notebook in the world at just 980 grams and 1.5 cm thick. Gram 15 is barely larger than the average 14 inch device.
It comes with a 14-inch Full HD, IPS display with a 1920x1080 px resolution. The new Gram model packs a powerful Core i5 / i7 processor of the sixth generation. There’s no info about RAM, the type and memory capacity yet. The laptop includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technology and ports. The Gram 15 also has an optional USB Type-C port, HDMI and MicroSD slot. It’s capable to run up to 7 hours on a charge.
Gone are the days when projectors were associated with huge devices weighing several kilograms. A new generation of projectors, targeting users who want to take their large-scale media entertainment whenever they go is hitting the market now. Today it’s not a problem to find a tiny projector boasting powerful picture quality. One of the best models here is a new LG creation named Minibeam Nano.
LG’s smallest, lightest and most affordable projector weighs only 270 grams and measures 108 x 103 x 44 mm. The image size is up to 100 inches of 854 x 480 pixels resolution. LED lamp can project 100 lumens of brightness and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio. The Minibeam Nano displays rich and natural colors and is rated for 30,000 hours. It can play and project media directly from portable USB devices as well as from laptops and smartphones via Wi-Fi Direct. The Minibeam Nano also features an HDMI input. With a generous 3,800mAh battery, this small projector can play for up to two hours on battery power alone. Of course, the abovementioned technical characteristics are not the most impressive ones but don’t forget it’s a portable pocket projector. However there’s no info yet on pricing.
LG intends to focus on production of displays using a new technology. This step should keep the competitors at bay on the market of television equipment and monitors. This refers to OLED technology.
OLED is an organic light-emitting diode display and it’s expected the company will be able to manufacture these displays at lower costs than liquid crystal displays (LCD).
The South Korean company announced its plans on investment into the development of OLED in the amount of 10 trln won (about $ 8.47 billion) till 2018. According to Reuters, the means will be directed to the developments in interoperation of OLED with certain product types including not only TV sets but also mobile devices and wearables. Also LG is going to analyze whether it’s possible to use OLED technology in other areas, particularly in a vehicle production.
Moreover, LG won’t disregard a traditional liquid crystal displays’ (LCD) production: the company will concentrate on creation of premium and luxury class segment.
In July LG company announced its intention to invest 1.05 trln won ($ 908 million) into a sixth generation flexible OLED display production line within a new line E5, which will be assembled in South Korea. The line will fit not only TV sets but also mobile devices and wearables as well as could be used in industrial conditions. The new line is scheduled to begin mass production in the first half of 2017.
A range of manufacturers, among which is Samsung, consider OLED as too expensive technology for mass market. However if LG achieves decrease in production costs of OLED, it’ll become a positive driver for future sales of the company. OLED display production should help the company remain at the top of the mobile display game in the foreseeable future and LG products to become a mainstream.
As reported by IHS DisplaySearch research firm, the market of flexible OLED devices will gradually grow from $ 3.5 billion in 2015 to $ 4.8 billion by 2021.
According to the assessment of DisplaySearch, the global OLED-displays’ market size will grow to $ 28.3 billion by 2022 comparing to $ 8.7 billion in 2014.
LG Display reported operating profit of 488 billion won for the second quarter of 2015 that exceeded expectations of experts. Nevertheless, last quarter growth rates of revenue of the company have decreased from 26% to 12%.
