Asus reportedly refuses from development of its ZenWatch line of Android Wear smartwatches.
Potential reason for discontinuing the product line may be too low sales of ZenWatch (just 5-6 thousand units per month). If Asus really exits Android Wear like Motorola and Samsung did, it means that only a few of the original manufacturers within Android Wear are left (Huawei and LG). Nevertheless Asus have not commented on this yet we may still hope to see more ZenWatch of Asus.
Even if traditional hardware companies are leaving Android Wear, fashion companies like Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss seem to be picking up the slack – new Android Wear 2.0 watches by them are expected to arrive later this year.
