On August 30, 2017 new CEO has been introduced to Uber, what marks the end of a search that lasted more than two months. After a number of debates of Uber’s board of directors, former Expedia CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has taken this position. Although he is going to continue to serve on Expedia’s board of directors. He called the job the “opportunity of a lifetime” and he is expected to bring the company to the new level.
That search started in the beginning of summer when former CEO Travis Kalanick resigned because of pressure from some of the company’s most important investors. Kalanick brought the company to the highs, though Uber has experienced many lows lately.
Dara Khosrowshahi is an Iranian-American businessman who headed Expedia – an American travel company that owns and operates several international global online travel brands for more than 12 years. For him it was one of the toughest decisions of his life. At his new position Khosrowshahi will face lots of challenges due to long-lasting crisis at the company and resignation of its top-managers. Uber reported losing $645 million a single quarter. New leader shall also rebuild Uber's C-Suite. Well, considering that at his previous working place he increased the company’s revenue 4 times, Uber may expect that good times will come soon.
