Do you own a fingerprint scanner-toting Samsung Galaxy phone and a Windows 10 computer? If so, you might soon be able to unlock that PC with your handset’s digit reader.

Ask any enthusiast with a competent desktop PC tower and they’ll tell you that one of the best advantages of a traditional rig is the easy upgradeability.

Indeed, there truly is no pleasure greater than that which results from popping a spare SATA cable onto a brand-new SSD or hard drive. Unfortunately, the thrill often stops there.

As you begin to install new apps, divvying up folders between multiple drives, seemingly basic tasks become obstructive challenges. Once you run out of storage for your overwhelming archive or Steam games, the question arises: should you move something from your current Steam folder to the Recycle Bin or start a brand-new one on a secondary drive?

Microsoft, as expected, at its 'What's next for Windows 10' event on Wednesday in New York made several announcements such as unveiling a new Surface Studio all-in-one, an upgraded Surface Book, and a new release called Windows 10 Creators Update. The Redmond giant at the event also announced a new version of the Paint app which was long-rumoured to get an update. The company says that Paint 3D app is part of its "vision for bringing 3D to everyone," something it began with the HoloLens.

Quick, what is the biggest drain on your laptop's battery?

If you answered "the display," you're right -- for the most part.

The single biggest occupier of battery resources, day in and day out, is your laptop's display. More specifically, it's the that energy goes into powering the backlight that illuminates the pixels on your laptop's display.

The obvious move to extend battery life is then to lower your display's brightness. On either a Windows 10 laptop or an Apple MacBook, you can usually do this on the keyboard, but there are a couple other settings to change that will help automate the process.

Windows 10 was designed with touchscreens in mind, but Microsoft hasn't forgotten traditional PC users. The operating system comes with plenty of built-in keyboard shortcuts -- including brand-new shortcuts for the Command Prompt -- for those who prefer a physical keyboard.

Samsung unveiled a smart fridge with a giant 1080p touchscreen attached to it earlier this year at CES. Not to be outdone, LG is at IFA today in Berlin with its own smart fridge, except it goes one step further. While Samsung opted for Tizen in its own fridge, LG has gone for Windows 10. That means you can launch all kinds of Windows apps on the fridge, and even classics like MS Paint and regedit if you desire.

Many users consider Windows 10 as one of the best operating system. But, their major concern is re-installation of the OS when something goes wrong. In case of any problem, they will have to start it by using a USB recovery drive, which will help them in trouble shooting and fixing the problems. A USB recovery drive is same as a system repair disk, but instead of a DVD or CD, it uses a USB drive.

Earlier this month, Microsoft started rolling out its much anticipated Windows 10 Anniversary Update for computers and tablets running Windows 10. It was expected that devices running Windows 10 Mobile will get their Anniversary Update soon, however that did not transpire. On Tuesday, almost two weeks later, the Redmond-based company has finally started rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update to eligible devices.

So last week, we had confirmation that the Anniversary Update for Windows 10will land on August 2, but some Windows Insiders (testers) have wondered what might happen to the whole programme and deployment of preview builds after the big upgrade has been pushed out.

Microsoft might be coming up with Windows 10 Anniversary Update on August 2. The uncertainty is due to the fact that the company published a blog on Tuesday with just the headline and no content saying "Microsoft announces Windows 10 anniversary update available Aug. 2" and then pulled the story, which had no content, moments later.
